I'm needing some help here

Doug and I went out to a movie last week.

I spent 5 minutes outside the theatre
really trying to logic this one out.
Is there something significant
about the age 6 and 6:00?
'Cause other than THAT,
I'm speechless. Stumped. Saddened.

Needing something funny

This weather today has me feeling achy, blah and dull.

I need to laugh. I have a file of "funny things" in my pics library.

One of Nathan's friends just asked for a pic from last fall,
that is in that folder so I thought today might be a good day to post a few.

Even if just for me.

The vehicle pics are mostly the kids choices,
they have a few, select cars and trucks
that make their "best of" cut.
I do my best to pull a u-turn, drive over a curb, descretely follow
and do anything that falls under the "legal but questionable" catagory
to get these pictures.

If any of these vehicles belong to you,
please do not be offended.
They have survived a highly selective voting process.
Drive (or pull) them with pride.

We u-turned with the horses in tow for these 2,

Summer's Nocturne

Franchesca's piano score on Student Achievement Tests
earned her an invitation to the Holland Piano Teachers Honors Recital.

This isn't the first year her scores were high enough.

This year though, she said yes.

It was a grand reason to dress a bit more cultured, if you will
(i.e. no mud, field or cowboy boots).
And yet another reason to haul
my camera around.

To say that her playing was the most moving,
touching, meaningful piece
feels ridiculous-
too predictable,
as though any mama would ever suggest
anything to the contrary.

It is the truth though. You must believe me.

For me the aftermath was fraught with wild, freezing wind, while chasing
uncooperative photo subjects, simultaneously holding my dress down
with one hand.

I now have more sympathy for the paparazzi.

It was almost as if they dared me
to let go of my dress.

Did I mention chasing my hat?

Brad Pitt?

Nathan ordered a zoom lens for my iphone
for my birthday.
(I had never heard of such a thing)
He pulled it off quite stealthily,
using his paypal account for payment.

I always have a volunteer for testing anything photo related.

A nurse in Prime Care once raved that Solomon
looked EXACTLY like Brad Pitt.
Must be the hair color??
Or too much overtime for her.

He does however, love to be in front of the camera.
Or mirror. Or water. Even a spoon.
Anything that reflects his silly faces.

The lens is pretty slick,
if a little cumbersome.
Talk about Smart Phones.
I'm thinking there will soon be a
small microwave as an add-on.

Nathan has been really gracious with his Jeep.
We really needed to haul the horses last week
and he did everything he could to help us get there.
He is such a sweet kid.

March 2012

So, now I'm saying
"remember those HOT weeks in March?"
These pics were taken with my phone
so not the highest quality
but it does the trick in a pinch.

Franchesca was working with River
and the little guys were whining about the heat.

Capturing frogs turned to fishing turned to turtle hunting
on the edge of the pond.

 I'm not sure
when the shoes were ditched.

They are probably still out there somewhere.

Fun and laughter filled the warm air.

Even River,
who is fearful of her own shadow,
enjoyed the pond.

Michigan can be such a temptress.
And so deceiving.
